RM of Surprise Valley’s story
The Rural Municipality of Surprise Valley No. 9 sits in the southeast part of Saskatchewan, right along the United States border, where its neighbour to the south is Sheridan County in Montana. It became a rural municipality on January 1, 1913.
Within its boundaries are the village of Minton, where the RM office is found, and the unincorporated communities of Regway and Sybouts. Gladmar, which was once a village, has since dissolved and is now a locality.
Today the RM is governed by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Thursday of each month.
